Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath Legend, Dies at 76 Weeks After Farewell Show.

Ozzy Osbourne, the legendary frontman of Black Sabbath and one of the founding figures of heavy metal, has died at the age of 76, his family confirmed on Tuesday.

“It is with more sadness than words can express that we share the passing of our beloved Ozzy Osbourne this morning. He was surrounded by family and love,” the family’s statement read. “We ask for privacy as we mourn this tremendous loss.”

Born John Michael Osbourne in Birmingham, England, Ozzy rose to fame in the 1970s as the voice of Black Sabbath, a band whose pioneering sound defined a new era of rock music. With his haunting vocals and theatrical stage presence, Osbourne became known as the “Prince of Darkness” and left an indelible mark on generations of metal artists.

Beyond his work with Black Sabbath, Ozzy enjoyed a successful solo career and later introduced himself to a new audience through the hit reality show The Osbournes, which chronicled his family life. His infamous onstage antics—including biting the head off a bat—became part of rock lore, cementing his status as one of music’s most unpredictable and compelling performers.

Diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2019, Osbourne remained resilient, continuing to record music and make appearances despite mounting health challenges. His final public performance, just weeks ago, served as a farewell to fans and a celebration of a career spanning more than 50 years.

Tributes have poured in from around the world, with fellow musicians and fans remembering Osbourne as a trailblazer, icon, and inspiration. He is survived by his wife Sharon Osbourne and their children. Funeral details will be shared by the family in due course.
