US Congressman Bill Huizenga has attributed the recent Pahalgam terror attack to Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba and its proxy.

The Resistance Front, noting that both organisations “were designated by the Trump administration as foreign terrorist organisations in July 2025.” His remarks underscore mounting concern in Washington over the reach of LeT-linked groups and their involvement in cross-border militancy.

Speaking at a House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee hearing on “The US-India Strategic Partnership: Securing a Free and Open Indo-Pacific,” Huizenga also emphasised the growing strategic and economic convergence between New Delhi and Washington.

He said India’s rapid economic rise has made it a key destination for American investment. “India is one of the fastest-growing major economies… American companies are eager to enter the Indian market on a level playing field,” he said.

Huizenga added that “a new trade deal with India under President Trump and Prime Minister Modi would help realise this goal,” calling deeper economic engagement central to strengthening bilateral ties. Highlighting the broader geopolitical stakes, he said the combined economic strength of the two countries is crucial to countering China and maintaining a free and open Indo-Pacific.
