PM Modi Cites Gen Z Support, Sees BJP Victory in Bengal After BMC Win
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said India’s young generation, especially Gen Z, backs the BJP’s development model, pointing to the party’s sweeping victory in the Maharashtra civic polls as evidence. Speaking in Malda, West Bengal, after laying the foundations for new development projects and flagging off India’s first Vande Bharat sleeper train, Modi expressed confidence that Bengal voters would back the BJP in the upcoming assembly elections.
“The BJP secured a historic win in Mumbai’s Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), one of the world’s largest civic bodies. Recently, we also elected our first mayor in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Even in states where BJP victories seemed impossible, the party is now receiving unprecedented support,” Modi said, as quoted by ANI.
He added, “People, especially Gen Z, have reposed faith in the BJP’s development model. After seeing your enthusiasm, I firmly believe Bengal will give BJP an overwhelming majority.”
Targeting the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC, Modi said, “Across Bengal, people deserve good governance under the BJP. With the blessings of Ma Ganga, the river of development will now flow in Bengal, just as it did in Bihar.”
The Prime Minister also highlighted infiltration as a key challenge for the state, noting that even prosperous nations take steps to remove illegal migrants. “It is equally necessary to remove infiltrators from West Bengal,” he said.
