PM Modi Honoured with Ghana’s Prestigious Civilian Award.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with The Officer of the Order of the Star of Ghana, the country’s highest civilian honour, in recognition of his “distinguished statesmanship and influential global leadership.”
The award was presented by Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama during PM Modi’s official visit to the West African nation. This marks the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Ghana in over three decades.
Taking to social media, PM Modi expressed gratitude for the honour, saying, “Honoured to be conferred with ‘The Officer of the Order of the Star of Ghana’.”
In his acceptance speech, the Prime Minister dedicated the award to the 140 crore people of India. “I accept this award on behalf of every Indian. It represents our shared dreams, our youth’s aspirations, and the timeless cultural ties between India and Ghana,” he said.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) noted that the honour reflects Ghana’s appreciation of PM Modi’s global leadership and the growing strategic partnership between the two nations.
During his visit, PM Modi held comprehensive talks with President Mahama. The two leaders agreed to elevate bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Partnership, expanding cooperation in trade, investment, education, and technology.
Modi emphasised that the honour “deepens the friendship between our countries” and said it adds responsibility to further strengthen bilateral relations. He also expressed hope that his “historic” visit would usher in a new era of collaboration between India and Ghana.
This recognition adds to a series of international honours bestowed upon PM Modi in recent years, highlighting his increasing influence on the global stage.
