Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the NaMo Bharat train service and the Meerut Metro on Sunday during his visit to Meerut, where he is also scheduled to address a public gathering and launch development projects worth over ₹12,000 crore.
Ahead of the prime minister’s arrival, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed security and logistical arrangements in the city. He inspected preparations at Shatabdi Nagar station and the public meeting venue, assessing cleanliness, traffic management, parking facilities, security deployment, and VIP movement plans. Authorities have put in place a multi-layered security system along with extensive traffic diversions.
PM Modi’s schedule in Meerut
According to officials, the prime minister is expected to land at Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad around 11 am before travelling to Meerut. Yogi Adityanath will reach the designated helipad near Shatabdi Nagar ahead of receiving Modi.
The prime minister will flag off the NaMo Bharat train and the Meerut Metro from Shatabdi Nagar NaMo Bharat Station. He is then scheduled to take a metro ride to Meerut South station.
Following the inauguration, Modi will proceed to Mohiuddinpur, where he will address a public meeting and inaugurate or lay the foundation stones for multiple infrastructure and development projects valued at approximately ₹12,930 crore. He will also dedicate the full 82-km Delhi–Meerut NaMo Bharat corridor to the nation, including newly completed sections.
NaMo Bharat and Meerut Metro
NaMo Bharat, India’s first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), has a design speed of 180 kmph and is intended to provide high-speed, high-frequency connectivity between Delhi and Meerut. The Meerut Metro, operating on the same corridor, is designed to be the country’s fastest metro system, with an operational speed of up to 120 kmph.
The projects form part of the Centre’s broader strategy to enhance regional connectivity, ease congestion, and promote sustainable urban transport solutions.
