Punjab Police have arrested three members of gangster Prabh Dasuwal’s network after a brief encounter in Faridkot on Saturday night, officials said.

The gang’s key shooter, Arshdeep Singh alias Vicky, was injured in the leg during the exchange of fire and later admitted to hospital. Police said they had received specific intelligence that Arshdeep was moving around the Bajakhana area with the intention of committing a major crime.

Teams immediately set up a blockade. When officers signalled him to stop, Arshdeep allegedly fired at them, prompting police to retaliate in self-defence. Around six rounds were exchanged before he was overpowered. A Yugana pistol, live cartridges and an HF Deluxe motorcycle were recovered from the spot.

Arshdeep, a resident of Madi Kalan village in Amritsar Rural, is suspected to be involved in several target killings on Dasuwal’s instructions, including one in Amritsar. He is also accused of conducting recces for the gang and is already facing an extortion case.

Earlier on November 14, two other operatives — Baljit Singh alias Kaddu and his brother Sunny — were arrested from a government school stadium. They were found in possession of a .30-bore pistol and live cartridges. During questioning, the duo revealed that the weapon had been supplied by Arshdeep and that they were planning a major crime.

Police said all three accused were involved in extortion activities across Moga, Amritsar and Tarn Taran. Kaddu is also booked in a ₹15-lakh extortion case in Moga. According to officials, the arrests prevented the gang from executing another planned crime in the district.
