Prabhas’ The Raja Saab Leaked Online a Day After Release; US Restaurant Allegedly Streams Pirated Copy.
Maruthi’s horror-comedy The Raja Saab, starring Prabhas, released in theatres this Friday ahead of Sankranthi. Just a day later, the film was leaked online, prompting Hyderabad cybercrime police to crack down on piracy platforms. Adding to the controversy, a restaurant in the US allegedly screened a pirated copy on its TV.
US Restaurant Incident
An Instagram page for NRIs shared a video (since deleted) claiming that a restaurant in Ohio was showing The Raja Saab illegally. The post, captioned “Too much ra 🙏🙏,” quickly went viral online.
Meanwhile, the film’s US distributor, Prathyangira Cinemas, reported that The Raja Saab has already crossed $2 million in the US in just two days. Globally, the film has earned ₹138.30 crore.
Hyderabad Police Take Action
Following the arrest of Ravi Emandi, operator of the pirate site iBomma, Hyderabad cybercrime police are now focusing on Naveen, allegedly running the pirate websites 5movierulz and 1tamilmv from Sri Lanka. Authorities say camcorder copies of new releases, including The Raja Saab and Dhurandhar, are being illegally uploaded online.
