Prithvi Shaw, Akriti Agarwal Reconcile Weeks After Calling Off Engagement
Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw and actor-influencer Akriti Agarwal have reportedly reconciled weeks after announcing that they had called off their engagement. Akriti confirmed the development in a personal statement shared on Instagram on Monday, admitting that outside opinions had influenced her decision to end their relationship.
Shaw shared Akriti’s statement on his Instagram story later that evening, bringing renewed attention to their relationship.
Titled ‘A personal clarification’, the statement reflected on the circumstances that led to their separation. Akriti acknowledged that she had allowed the views of people close to her to influence her understanding of Shaw and their relationship.
“When I called off our engagement, I let the opinions of people close to me – who seemed to know our relationship better than we did – influence how I saw my fiancee and our relationship,” she wrote.
She added that she felt she had been misled and had made the decision without having the honest conversation the couple deserved.
Taking responsibility for the breakup and the hurt it caused, Akriti said the two had since spoken openly, gained a better understanding of each other and decided to give their relationship another chance.
“Together, we are enough for each other, and we don’t need anyone else,” she wrote, urging people to respect their decision as they embark on a fresh chapter together.
From engagement to separation and reconciliation
Shaw and Akriti announced their engagement in March 2026, sharing photographs of the proposal on social media. However, in September, Akriti revealed that they had decided to part ways, citing differences in their goals and circumstances.
Her latest statement marks a change in that decision, although neither has publicly disclosed further details about what led to the initial breakup or their subsequent reconciliation.
Prithvi Shaw looks to revive his cricket career
Away from his personal life, Shaw is working to regain momentum in his cricket career after a promising start at the international level.
The 26-year-old batter captained India to the Under-19 World Cup title in 2018 and made an immediate impression in senior international cricket later that year by scoring a century on his Test debut against the West Indies.
However, injuries, inconsistent performances and an extended absence from the national team have disrupted his progress.
Ahead of the 2025-26 domestic season, Shaw moved from Mumbai to Maharashtra in an effort to rebuild his career. He subsequently delivered a notable performance in the Ranji Trophy, scoring 222 runs against Chandigarh, although he remains outside India’s immediate plans.
Shaw has shown encouraging signs in the ongoing 2026-27 domestic season. Leading Maharashtra in the absence of regular captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, who is on India A duty, he scored 70 off 73 deliveries against Services at Palam A Stadium in New Delhi on Sunday.
His innings featured eight boundaries and a six, providing Maharashtra with an early boost before left-arm spinner Arjun Sharma dismissed him shortly before lunch.
As Shaw seeks to re-establish himself on the cricket field, the reconciliation with Akriti marks a fresh development in his personal life.
