Following the sudden demise of industrialist Sunjay Kapur earlier this month due to a fatal heart attack during a polo match in Windsor, an old interview of his wife, Priya Sachdev, has resurfaced online and reignited public interest in his personal life.

In the interview, Priya candidly spoke about their journey as a couple and how they built a “beautiful blended family” with Sunjay’s children from his previous marriage. Without directly naming Karisma Kapoor, Sunjay’s former spouse, Priya remarked, “Sunjay’s previous marriage was not a conventional marriage. He had two beautiful children from that marriage. We love them dearly, and today we are one beautiful blended family.”

Sunjay Kapur was married to Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor from 2002 to 2016. Their highly publicized separation included serious allegations from both parties, with Karisma accusing Sunjay of domestic abuse, and Sunjay alleging she had married him for financial gain.

Veteran actor Randhir Kapoor, Karisma’s father, had openly criticized the marriage at the time. In a 2016 interview, he stated, “Sunjay is a third-class man… I never wanted Karisma marrying him… We are Kapoors. We don’t need to run after anyone’s money.”

Karisma Kapoor has remained private about her personal life post-divorce and has not remarried. In a 2022 Instagram AMA, when asked about the possibility of marrying again, she responded with a light-hearted “Depends,” leaving fans curious but none the wiser.
