Navjot Kaur Sidhu Quits Congress, Blasts Punjab Chief Warring as ‘Incapable and Corrupt’

Chandigarh: Congress leader Navjot Kaur Sidhu on Saturday resigned from the party, sharply criticizing Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, whom she accused of “damaging the organisation” and called “the most horrific, incapable, corrupt president ever.”

Her resignation comes a month after her suspension over a controversial remark that “a suitcase of Rs 500 crore” is required to become chief minister. In a post on X, she alleged that Warring had compromised the party for personal gains by forming an understanding with the ruling Aam Aadmi Party.

Kaur accused Warring of targeting her while protecting senior leaders she claimed worked against her husband, Navjot Singh Sidhu. She alleged that leaders collaborating with Shiromani Akali Dal’s Bikram Singh Majithia were rewarded with key party positions, while efforts were made to ensure her electoral defeat.

“You saved yourself from jail by co-partnering with the Chief Minister to destroy Congress. You sold the party for petty gains,” she wrote, adding that she had evidence to challenge him but chose not to use it.

Navjot Kaur Sidhu, MLA from Amritsar East, was first elected in 2012 on a BJP ticket, later joined Congress, and served as chief parliamentary secretary. Her departure underscores internal tensions in Punjab Congress ahead of upcoming political battles.
