Quinton de Kock has sent a massive warning to the cricketing world ahead of the T20 World Cup by smashing South Africa’s all-time T20 run record, overtaking Faf du Plessis.

The left-hander reached the milestone in style with a 43-ball century in the second T20I against the West Indies on January 29 at SuperSport Park, Centurion.

De Kock now sits atop South Africa’s T20 charts with 12,113 runs in 430 matches, averaging 31.46 at a strike rate of 139.10, including eight centuries and 81 fifties. His century was also the third-fastest by a South African in T20Is, behind David Miller’s 35-ball ton and Dewald Brevis’ 41-ball effort.

Powerhouse Performance

He smashed 115 off just 49 balls, with six fours and 10 sixes, powering South Africa to chase 222 in 17.3 overs. The win gave South Africa a 2-0 series lead with one match remaining.

From the start, de Kock dominated the West Indies attack. He reached his fifty in just 21 balls, effortlessly punishing pace and spin with pulls, cuts, and massive slog-sweeps. Bowlers Roston Chase, Jason Holder, and Jayden Seales struggled to contain him.

The climax came against Akeal Hosein, who was hit for consecutive sixes before de Kock was eventually caught by Brandon King at mid-off. His innings was a blend of power and composure, earning a standing ovation and sending a clear message to teams ahead of the World Cup.

With form, firepower, and record-breaking consistency on his side, Quinton de Kock is peaking at the perfect time, making him one of the most dangerous T20 batters in the world.
