Chennai Super Kings’ newest spin recruit Rahul Chahar on Friday, February 20, confirmed that he has finalised his divorce from wife Ishani Johar, bringing an official end to their marriage of over three-and-a-half years.

The couple had married in Goa on March 9, 2022. In a detailed note shared on social media, the 26-year-old leg-spinner said the legal process had concluded and the matter had been settled, marking closure to what he described as a defining period of personal growth.

“I entered marriage at a young age, before I fully understood myself, my worth, or the life I truly wanted to build. What followed were years of lessons I never expected, and the last fifteen months spent navigating courtrooms, learning patience, resilience, and the strength that comes from truth,” Chahar wrote.

“Today, that chapter of my life formally comes to a close. After due legal process, the matter has been settled with my resolution that costed a lot, bringing finality to this phase of my life. I close this chapter not with anger or regret, but with clarity,” he added.

Chahar reflected that some relationships are meant to “awaken us, teach us, and transform us,” noting that he now intends to move forward grounded in “self-respect, peace, and better choices.”

Focus Turns to IPL 2026

With his personal matters settled, Chahar’s focus shifts to the upcoming 2026 season of the Indian Premier League, expected to run from March to May.

The leg-spinner will represent Chennai Super Kings after being signed for Rs 5.20 crore in the IPL 2026 mini-auction. Although he initially went unsold, CSK secured him in the accelerated round. He had earlier been released by Sunrisers Hyderabad.

In his IPL career, Chahar has previously played for Rising Pune Supergiant, Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Across 79 matches, he has taken 75 wickets at an average of 28.66. At the international level, Chahar has represented the India national cricket team in one ODI and six T20Is, claiming three wickets in ODIs at an average of 18 and seven wickets in T20Is at 23.85. He last appeared for India during the 2021 T20 World Cup.
