Rakesh Bedi on Sara Arjun Kissing Controversy: ‘Absolutely Ridiculous’

Rakesh Bedi has responded to allegations of kissing his Dhurandhar co-star Sara Arjun during the film’s trailer launch last month, calling the claims “stupid.”

The 71-year-old actor plays the cunning politician Jameel Jamali, while Sara portrays his daughter, Yalina Jamali. Speaking to Hindustan Times, Bedi said, “Sara is less than half my age and plays my daughter. On set, she would greet me with a hug, just as a daughter would with her father. We share a good rapport, which reflects on screen.”

He added, “It was no different that day. The affection of an elderly man towards a young girl was misunderstood. Dekhne wale ki aankh mein gadbad hai to kya kar sakte ho (What can you do when people perceive it wrongly)?”

Bedi also dismissed any ill intent: “Why would I kiss her publicly? Her parents were there. People just create issues on social media out of nothing.” He further said that his long career and the love of his fans speak for his character.

Dhurandhar, featuring Ranveer Singh, R. Madhavan, and Akshaye Khanna, has been a massive hit, crossing ₹400 crore at the Indian box office.
