Ranveer Singh Threat Row: Lawrence Bishnoi Connection Surfaces, Harry Boxer Suspected

The investigation into the threat against Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has taken a serious turn, with the Mumbai Crime Branch probing a suspected link to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

Police sources indicate that an alleged gang associate known as Harry Boxer is under scrutiny. According to investigators, a WhatsApp voice note demanding ₹1 crore was sent to Singh’s manager. The sender allegedly issued threats and sought extortion money. During an initial assessment, officers found that the voice in the clip appeared similar to that of Harry Boxer. However, authorities have stressed that forensic and technical verification is ongoing to conclusively determine the sender’s identity.

Police suspect the message may have been transmitted from overseas and routed through a VPN to mask its origin. Assistance from Interpol has reportedly been sought to trace the digital footprint and identify the source of the communication.

The probe comes alongside a separate Crime Branch investigation into a firing incident outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence. Five accused — Aman Marote (27), Aditya Gayaki (19), Siddharth Yenpure (20), Samarth Pomaji (18) and Swapnil Sakat (23) — have been arrested in connection with the case. Another alleged Bishnoi gang member, Shubham Lonkar, has been declared wanted.

Police said five rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition were fired using a country-made firearm. Forensic experts are examining whether the cartridges were 7.62×39 mm or 7.62×51 mm. Investigators believe the shooter may have had accomplices and are examining financial records, bank transactions and witness statements as part of the wider inquiry.

In a related development, actor Aayush Sharma — brother-in-law of Salman Khan — has reportedly received a threat email dated February 11. That case is also under investigation by the Mumbai Crime Branch.
