Kerala MLA Rahul Mamkootathil Arrested After Third Rape Complaint.
Kerala MLA Rahul Mamkootathil was taken into police custody on Friday following the registration of a third rape complaint against him. The latest allegation was received via email, prompting immediate action by authorities. In the previous two cases, Mamkootathil had been granted anticipatory bail, preventing his arrest. A special police team is questioning him in Pathanamthitta district.
Allegations in the New Complaint
The complainant has accused the MLA of sexual assault and coercing her to terminate a pregnancy. She reportedly connected with him via social media during marital difficulties.
According to the complaint, the two later entered a relationship, during which Mamkootathil allegedly promised to marry her. She claims he suggested marriage would be easier if she became pregnant, but later forced her to abort the pregnancy and questioned the paternity, causing her severe mental distress.
The complainant has also alleged that Mamkootathil demanded financial favours during their relationship.
Police Action
Authorities said the investigation is ongoing, and all aspects of the complaint are being examined. Further legal proceedings will follow based on the findings of the inquiry.
