Delhi Police Put Out Wanted Poster of Al-Qaeda Terrorist Ahead of Republic Day
The Delhi Police have issued a wanted poster of Mohammed Rehan, a Delhi-based operative of Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), ahead of the 77th Republic Day celebrations. Officials said this is the first time Rehan’s photograph has been made public.
The move comes after multiple terror threat alerts from intelligence agencies. In response, the police have set up a multi-layered security cordon across Kartavya Path and New Delhi, combining ground personnel with advanced surveillance technology.
Additional Commissioner of Police Devesh Kumar Mahala said around 10,000 officers from Delhi Police and paramilitary forces will be deployed. The area is monitored through CCTV cameras integrated with facial recognition systems, and nine security rehearsals have been conducted to ensure preparedness.
Mahala added, “Republic Day is a fixed-time, high-profile event. All security measures have been implemented to ensure the safety of citizens.”
