Rinku Singh Smashes Maiden T20 Hundred, Boosts Asia Cup Chances.

Rinku Singh produced a breathtaking one-man show in the UP T20 League on Thursday, August 21, guiding Meerut Mavericks to a stunning win over Gaur Gorakhpur Lions at Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium.

Chasing 168, Meerut were reeling at 38/4 in the 8th over before captain Rinku turned the game on its head. The left-hander hammered an unbeaten 108 off 48 balls, his maiden T20 century, hitting 7 fours and 8 sixes. He sealed the chase in the 19th over, launching 5 sixes in his last 6 balls to complete the turnaround in style.

The knock comes at a crucial time for Rinku, who has struggled in recent months. After a stellar start to his India career — 479 runs in 19 innings at an average of 59.87 and a strike rate of 175 — his form dipped in bilateral series against South Africa and England, where he managed just 67 runs across seven matches.

Rinku’s IPL 2025 season with Kolkata Knight Riders also added to his woes. Often pushed down the order to No. 6 or below, he rarely faced more than 20 deliveries, limiting his impact.

With his maiden T20 ton, the 26-year-old has reminded selectors of his finishing prowess ahead of the Asia Cup. Fans will now hope this innings sparks a return to form, ensuring he features prominently in India’s plans — unlike the T20 World Cup 2024, where he didn’t get a single game.
