Rishabh Pant Wants To Return Home, Seeks Uttarakhand CM’s Help In Late-Night Post

Rishabh Pant’s three-year search for a home in his native Uttarakhand may finally be nearing a breakthrough.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has responded to the India wicketkeeper-batter’s public appeal for help in acquiring land, assuring him that the state government will extend all possible assistance within the rules.

Pant, currently in Sri Lanka with the Indian team for the two-Test series, tagged Dhami in a post on X early Saturday. The 28-year-old revealed that he had been trying to find a suitable plot for the past three years so he could move his base from Delhi to Uttarakhand and build his first home there.

“I have been trying to buy land to shift my base from Delhi to Uttarakhand and I couldn’t find anything facilitating and big to live here. I love my Uttarakhand,” Pant wrote.

He then made a personal appeal to the Chief Minister, saying he wanted to return to his roots and contribute to the development of the state.

“My humble request to you is please help me in land acquisition… I wanna move back to my native place to help and build around Uttarakhand and I want to shift back to my Pahadi people. Please look into this matter, it’s been 3 years,” he said.

Dhami responded warmly to Pant’s request, calling him the “pride of Uttarakhand” and crediting his cricketing achievements with bringing global recognition to the state.

“Dear Rishabh, you are the pride of Uttarakhand. With your splendid performance and achievements, you have illuminated the name of Devbhoomi in the country and the world,” Dhami wrote.

The Chief Minister also praised Pant’s desire to return to his homeland and contribute to the state.

“Your love for your motherland and your sentiment of returning here to contribute are highly commendable,” he added.

Dhami further said that officials had been instructed to examine the matter and contact Pant.

“Regarding the matter you have raised, instructions are being issued to the concerned officials. They will soon contact you and ensure all possible cooperation in accordance with the rules,” he said.

Pant had made it clear that he was not seeking a free allotment. Instead, he said he was willing to purchase the land from the government at the applicable rates.

“A gift would be lovely for representing our state at the highest level internationally, but if you allow me I wanna buy it from Government and on their rates,” Pant wrote.

Pant was born in Roorkee in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar district and began his cricket journey in the state before moving to Delhi to pursue the sport professionally. While he represents Delhi in domestic cricket, he has continued to maintain a close bond with Uttarakhand.

His appeal also came amid reports that Pant was Uttarakhand’s highest individual taxpayer for the 2025-26 financial year, having reportedly paid Rs 23.84 crore in income tax.

The cricketer’s income comes from his BCCI contract, match fees, IPL earnings and endorsements. He was signed by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 27 crore and also has partnerships with several major brands.

With Dhami now stepping in and directing officials to assist Pant, the cricketer’s long-running effort to find land and build a home in Uttarakhand could finally be close to a resolution.
