‘Royal Fallout’: Meghan and Harry Part Ways with 10th Publicist in Five Years as Communications Director Quits After Four Months

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are facing fresh questions about staff stability after their Director of Communications, Emily Robinson, stepped down just four months into the role.

Robinson, who previously served as a senior publicity director at Netflix and worked on The Crown, had joined the Sussexes in June to lead media strategy and support their ventures, including their production company, Archewell.

Her departure marks the tenth publicist to leave the couple’s team in five years, underscoring a persistent pattern of high turnover. Media reports have long highlighted this “revolving door” issue, raising concerns about the work environment and management practices within Archewell.

Sources familiar with Robinson describe her as “not a quitter” and suggest her exit was voluntary, hinting at challenging conditions. In contrast, a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess framed her departure as the successful completion of a temporary assignment. The spokesperson said Robinson “oversaw project-based work for a very successful season of With Love, Meghan and provided additional support for the production company,” adding that she “did an excellent job and completed these projects with great success.”

Robinson’s exit comes amid intensified media scrutiny of the couple, including criticism of recent public appearances. While Chief Communications Officer Meredith Maines remains in place, the departure of a high-profile executive with Netflix experience highlights ongoing challenges in managing the public image of one of the world’s most closely watched couples. The struggle to retain long-term communications staff continues to shape the narrative around the Sussexes’ post-royal professional lives.
