Cow vigilante Bittu Bajrangi, an accused in the 2023 Nuh communal riots, was allegedly duped of ₹30,000 by a man posing as a marriage facilitator, PTI reported, citing police sources.

According to the complaint, Bajrangi had approached a man named Bunty, a relative of his neighbour, seeking help to find a bride. Bunty introduced him to a woman named Rani and arranged multiple visits to Aligarh to meet prospective matches, but nothing materialized.

Later, Bunty sent Bajrangi a photograph of a young woman he claimed was interested. On September 5, 2025, Bunty and Rani allegedly visited Bajrangi’s home with the woman and her family to finalize a wedding proposal. A wedding date was set for February 7, 2026.

Following instructions, Bajrangi transferred ₹30,000 to Bunty’s account to buy bridal clothes. However, when he arrived in Aligarh with his wedding procession, Bunty and Rani were nowhere to be found. Their phones were switched off, and the woman denied any knowledge of the wedding.

“I had to return empty-handed,” Bajrangi said in his complaint.

An FIR has been registered against Bunty and Rani under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), and a further investigation is underway.
