Saina Nehwal Confirms Separation From Husband Parupalli Kashyap.

Olympic medallist Saina Nehwal on Sunday announced her separation from husband and fellow badminton player Parupalli Kashyap. The couple, who married in 2018, had trained together at Hyderabad’s Pullela Gopichand Academy and were among the most celebrated pairs in Indian badminton.

Nehwal shared the news through an Instagram story, writing:
“Life takes us in different directions sometimes. After much thought and consideration, Kashyap Parupalli and I have decided to part ways. We’re choosing peace, growth, and healing – for ourselves and each other. I’m grateful for the memories and wish nothing but the best moving forward. Thank you for understanding and respecting our privacy during this time.”

While Nehwal opened up about the split, Kashyap has yet to issue a public statement.

Both athletes have made significant contributions to Indian badminton. Saina, who won bronze at the 2012 London Olympics, was the first Indian woman to achieve the World No. 1 ranking in women’s singles in 2015. Kashyap, on the other hand, secured gold at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and has had a consistent presence on the international circuit.

In a separate revelation last year, Saina disclosed her struggle with arthritis, casting uncertainty over her playing future. Speaking on the House of Glory podcast hosted by Olympic shooter Gagan Narang, she said:
“The knee is not very good. I have arthritis. My cartilage has gone to a bad state. It is very difficult to push for eight-nine hours.”
“Two hours of training is not good enough to play with the highest level of players and get the desired results,” she added.

As Saina navigates personal and professional transitions, messages of support have poured in from fans and the sporting fraternity alike.
