Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan was moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Lilavati Hospital on Tuesday after being admitted earlier in the morning. Doctors have confirmed that he is stable and under close medical supervision.

In an official statement, Dr Jalil Parkar said Khan was brought to the hospital’s emergency department around 8:30 am by the family’s physician, Dr Sandeep Chopra. He was immediately evaluated and later shifted to the ICU for continued monitoring.

“He is stable but remains under close observation with regard to his clinical status,” Dr Parkar said, adding that multiple specialists are overseeing his treatment. The team attending to him includes neurologist Dr Vinay Chavan, cardiologist Dr Ajit Menon, neurosurgeon Dr Nitin Dange and Dr Bineet Ahluwalia. The hospital has withheld further medical details in keeping with the family’s request for privacy.

A detailed medical bulletin is expected to be issued at 11 am on Wednesday with the family’s consent. Soon after news of his hospitalisation broke, his son, actor Salman Khan, was seen arriving at the hospital along with daughter Alvira Khan Agnihotri and son-in-law Atul Agnihotri.

Salim Khan is widely regarded as one of the most influential writers in Hindi cinema. As one half of the iconic duo Salim-Javed alongside Javed Akhtar, he co-wrote several landmark films, including Sholay, Deewaar, Zanjeer and Don, shaping mainstream Bollywood storytelling in the 1970s and defining the era’s “angry young man” narrative.
