Former Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Om Prakash’s son, Kartik, has claimed that his mother, who was suffering from severe mental health issues, was behind the killing of the ex-top cop, sources.

Family members revealed she frequently expressed fear, claiming her husband might harm her, and she also alleged that her husband brandished a gun to threaten her on multiple occasions. Sources say that Pallavi often remained in a delusional state, imagining things and getting anxious over baseless thoughts.

Based on Kartik’s complaint, the police have filed charges against Om Prakash’s wife, Pallavi and daughter, Kruti after the retired officer was found dead at his Bengaluru residence with multiple stab wounds. According to the complaint, Om Prakash’s wife, who is now the prime accused in the case, had been battling schizophrenia for the past 12 years and was undergoing treatment.

The police had detained both Pallavi and Kruti for questioning on Sunday. According to sources, multiple stab injuries were found on Om Prakash’s stomach and neck. His body was lying in a pool of blood when the police arrived at the scene, Bengaluru police chief B Dayanand said.

The Bengaluru police chief further said that they received information of the murder at around 4:30 pm on Sunday.

“Initial investigation suggests that things might be internal in nature. It seems that some sharp weapon has been used, which caused so much blood loss that it led to death,” he said.
