Rawalpindi on High Alert as Section 144 Enforced Ahead of PTI Rally.

Authorities in Rawalpindi have imposed Section 144 from 1 to 3 December, banning all public gatherings amid rising tensions over former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s health and fears of unrest. The order, issued by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Hassan Waqar Cheema, prohibits rallies, processions, sit-ins, and any assembly of five or more people, according to Dawn.

The restrictions come as PTI supporters mobilise to demand access to Khan, who has been imprisoned since last year. Officials fear that protests could escalate amid circulating rumours about his wellbeing.

  • Restrictions and Security Measures
  • Assemblies of five or more people are banned.

Weapons and hazardous items such as batons, petrol bombs, sling shots, and explosives are prohibited; only law enforcement may display firearms. Movement restrictions include a ban on pillion riding and loudspeakers. Tampering with police barriers or crowd-control measures will be treated as a violation.

Officials described these measures as essential to maintain public order and prevent violence. “There exists an imminent threat within the limits of District Rawalpindi,” the order states, aiming to safeguard peace and security.

Intelligence Alerts

The District Intelligence Committee (DIC) has warned that certain groups may attempt to mobilise large gatherings targeting sensitive locations. Authorities say the restrictions are aimed at preventing any disruption and keeping the city calm.
