Sensex, Nifty Start Flat; Broader Indices Show Mild Gains.

Indian equity benchmarks opened Tuesday’s trade on a muted note, lacking strong triggers. The Sensex rose 82 points (0.10%) to 81,355, while the Nifty50 gained 26 points (0.11%) to 24,906. In the broader market, both the Nifty MidCap and SmallCap indices were up 0.2% each.

Global Market Setup

Asian shares slipped in early trade, tracking overnight softness on Wall Street. Japan’s Nikkei 225 eased 0.14%, and South Korea’s KOSPI fell 0.54%.

In the US, stocks ended nearly flat as investors awaited retail earnings and Fed Chair Jerome Powell’s speech at the Jackson Hole summit. The S&P 500 closed slightly lower, while the Dow Jones fell 0.07%.
