Shikhar Dhawan Dismisses False Claims Linked to His Second Marriage

Shikhar Dhawan has publicly refuted viral claims regarding his personal life following his recent marriage to Sophie Shine, stating that fabricated quotes are being wrongly attributed to him.

The issue surfaced after a social media post alleged that Dhawan had claimed his former wife once told him that no one would marry him after their separation, and that his remarriage was a “reply” to that remark. The former India opener has denied ever making such a statement and urged people not to circulate false narratives in his name.

Addressing the matter through his social media platforms, Dhawan expressed disappointment over the misinformation while emphasising positivity and respect for his past.

“I have come across some posts on social media attributing a disappointing statement about my personal life. I have never carried baggage from the past, be it on the pitch or outside. I firmly believe in the power of positivity while respecting my past,” he wrote.

Calling his marriage a fresh beginning, he added: “This is a new chapter in my life, and I feel truly grateful for the love and blessings I have received from my fans, friends, family, well-wishers and the media. I strongly urge people not to trade on my name with clickbait, insensitive and false statements on social media. Let’s spread love and positivity.”

His clarification was widely welcomed by fans, who praised his composed response and forward-looking message.

Dhawan married Shine in a private ceremony on February 21 after being in a relationship for over a year. The couple had announced their engagement in January and were first seen together publicly during a Champions Trophy match in Dubai. Shine, an Irish national, works as a product consultant at Northern Trust Corporation and is currently based in the UAE.

Dhawan had separated from Aesha Dhawan in October 2023 before announcing his retirement from international and domestic cricket in August 2024. Over the course of his career, he represented India in 34 Tests, 167 ODIs and 68 T20Is, playing a key role in the country’s 2013 Champions Trophy triumph, where he finished as the highest run-scorer and was named Player of the Tournament.

By addressing the rumours directly, Dhawan has made it clear that he wishes to move forward without engaging in speculation, urging social media users to refrain from spreading unverified claims.
