Former India cricketer Shikhar Dhawan has tied the knot with his long-time girlfriend Sophie Shine in a private ceremony on Saturday, 21 February.
The couple had been in a relationship for over a year, with Dhawan confirming their romance publicly in May 2025. Their wedding comes weeks after they announced their engagement on Instagram on 12 January. Dhawan and Sophie were first spotted together during the Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai, sparking speculation about their relationship. The former India opener later hinted at having found love again during a media conclave appearance. Glimpses from the wedding ceremony were shared by fellow cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal, who posted photos on Instagram with the caption, “Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai.”
Who is Sophie Shine?
Sophie Shine is an Irish professional currently serving as Second Vice President – Product Consultant at Northern Trust Corporation. She is based in the UAE and holds a qualification in Marketing and Management from Technological University of the Shannon (formerly Limerick Institute of Technology). She completed her schooling at Castleroy College in Ireland. Reports suggest the couple met in the UAE, where their relationship developed over time.
The pair also celebrated their haldi ceremony on 20 February, with Sophie sharing photos from the pre-wedding festivities on social media.
This is Dhawan’s second marriage. He was previously married to Aesha Mukherjee in 2011, and the couple officially separated in October 2023 after 11 years together. While granting the divorce, a Delhi court recorded observations regarding Dhawan’s limited access to his son, Zoravar, and granted him visitation rights along with permission for scheduled video calls.
