Siya’s Father Says ‘Push Her Off the Same Fort’ If Daughter Is Found Guilty

Praveen Goyal, the father of Siya Goyal, the prime accused in the alleged murder of her fiancé Ketan Agarwal, said his daughter should receive the harshest punishment if she is found guilty, even saying she deserved to be hanged.

In an emotional Goyal said he was devastated by the allegations against his daughter but insisted that justice must prevail over personal emotions.

The remarks come days after Pune Police alleged that Siya Goyal and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary, conspired to kill Ketan by pushing him into a gorge at Lohagad Fort on June 18. Both accused are currently in judicial custody.

“I still find it impossible to believe my daughter could do something like this. She never lied to me and always followed the right path,” Goyal said, revealing that the shock of her arrest had landed him in the intensive care unit.

Despite his disbelief, he said he would not seek leniency for his daughter if the charges against her were proven. “If my daughter is found guilty, the court should not delay justice. She should be given the strictest punishment,” he said.

Goyal then made an even more striking remark, saying his daughter deserved the same fate that investigators allege Ketan suffered.

“If she is found guilty, take her to the same fort and push her off the same place. That is all a father can say,” he said, before adding, “Yes, she can be given the death penalty.”

Even so, Goyal said he continued to struggle to accept the allegations.

“I simply cannot believe she could have done something like this,” he said.

Siya’s parents also dismissed suggestions that the relationship had been troubled. Her mother, Pooja Goyal, said the couple appeared happy, regularly spoke over video calls, met often and were actively preparing for their wedding. “Ketan even came home for dinner. We never got any indication that something was wrong,” she said.

Rejecting claims that Siya did not want to marry Ketan, Pooja Goyal said the family had spent nearly Rs 50,000 shopping for a planned pre-wedding trip to Bali. “If she had told us she didn’t want to marry Ketan, why would we have spent so much on wedding shopping?” she said. Calling Ketan “like a son”, Praveen Goyal said his death had shattered both families.

“We were eagerly preparing for the wedding. Whatever has happened is deeply tragic. Even today we cannot bring ourselves to believe it,” he said. He also rejected allegations by Ketan’s father that Siya’s family had hidden facts about the relationship, saying they had no knowledge of any problems between the couple or of their daughter’s alleged affair.

Describing Siya as a “simple girl”, Goyal said she had always appeared excited about her upcoming wedding.

According to Pune Police, Siya Goyal allegedly decided not to call off the engagement because she feared it would bring shame to her family. Investigators claim she and Chetan Chaudhary then conspired to kill Ketan, eventually pushing him into a gorge at Lohagad Fort after earlier attempts allegedly failed. The investigation is ongoing.
