Sonia Gandhi Recovering Well, Expected to Be Discharged in 1–2 Days
Congress leader Sonia Gandhi is showing steady improvement and is likely to be discharged from Delhi’s Sir Ganga Ram Hospital within a day or two, hospital authorities said. She was admitted on March 24 with a fever and is responding well to antibiotics for a systemic infection.
Dr. Ajay Swaroop, chairman of the hospital, said, “Sonia Gandhi is comfortable, walking around, and has had breakfast. Her progress is smooth, and we expect she will be fit for discharge soon.” She is being treated under the supervision of Dr. DS Rana, Dr. S. Nundy, and Dr. Arup Basu.
This is not her first hospitalisation this year. In June, she was admitted for stomach-related issues at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and earlier, on June 7, at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed his concern on X, writing, “Concerned to learn that Smt. Sonia Gandhi has been hospitalised. Wishing her a speedy recovery and confident she will return to good health soon.”
