Magnitude 6.2 Earthquake Strikes Off Oregon Coast, No Damage Reported
A magnitude 6.2 earthquake hit off the coast of Oregon, US, on Thursday night, according to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ). The quake occurred at a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles).
There have been no immediate reports of damage or casualties, though authorities are monitoring the situation closely, local media said. The National Tsunami Warning Centre, part of NOAA, confirmed that no tsunami warnings were issued.
The affected offshore area near the Oregon–California border lies along the seismically active Cascadia Subduction Zone, where tectonic plate interactions regularly trigger earthquakes. Most quakes in this region occur offshore and often go unnoticed on land, but larger events can be felt across the Pacific Northwest coast.
