The passing of Carrie Anne Fleming marks a quiet but deeply felt loss for television audiences who knew her through a wide range of genre shows.
The actor died at 51 after a battle with breast cancer, her representative confirmed. Fleming passed away in Canada on February 26, surrounded by her loved ones. “She died peacefully with her loved ones by her side,” her representative said, describing her as “a beautiful soul… inspiring, and above all, kind.”
Among those paying tribute was Jim Beaver, her co-star on Supernatural, where she played Karen Singer opposite his character. Sharing a heartfelt remembrance, Beaver recalled their first meeting on set and the personal bond they formed. He described Fleming as “a powerhouse of vitality and goodwill… with a rapturous laugh and an utterly adorable personality,” highlighting the energy she brought to both her work and those around her.
Born on August 16, 1974, in Digby, Nova Scotia, Fleming later moved to British Columbia, where she trained in drama at Victoria’s Kaleidoscope Theatre and the Kidco Theatre Dance Company. She began building her career with early roles in projects such as Happy Gilmore and the TV series Viper, before establishing herself in the horror and supernatural genre.
Over the years, she became a familiar face across genre television, appearing in series like Masters of Horror, The Tooth Fairy, and Bloodsuckers. She was also widely recognised for her role as Candy Baker on iZombie.
Her extensive television credits included appearances in Supergirl, UnREAL, Continuum, The 4400, The L Word, Smallville, The Dead Zone and Stargate SG-1, underscoring her versatility and steady presence across the small screen.
Away from television, Fleming was also an accomplished stage performer, appearing in productions such as Noises Off, Romeo and Juliet and Steel Magnolias.
She is survived by her daughter, Madalyn Rose, as colleagues and fans remember a performer whose warmth and spirit left a lasting impression well beyond her roles.
