Mojtaba Khamenei, the newly appointed Supreme Leader of Iran, is reported to have survived two alleged assassination attempts in recent days, according to an Iranian parliamentarian cited by local media.
Mohammadreza Rezaei Kouchi told the Islamic Republic News Agency that one attack targeted the residence of former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, where Mojtaba Khamenei was reportedly present. The lawmaker said both leaders escaped unharmed.
Rezaei Kouchi also claimed that another strike hit a hospital where Mojtaba Khamenei was present, describing him as the “third leader of the Islamic Republic.” He added that efforts by United States and Israel had failed, but he did not provide details of the hospital or its location.
Former U.S. President Donald Trump suggested in a recent interview that Mojtaba Khamenei may have been injured during the early attacks. “I think he probably is. I think he’s damaged, but I think he’s probably alive in some form,” Trump said.
Since his appointment nearly a week ago, Mojtaba Khamenei has released his first public message, but no photos or video of him have been made public, fueling speculation about his health and whereabouts.
