Visakhapatnam Schoolboy Death: 6-Year-Old Collapses After Teacher Allegedly Slaps Him

A six-year-old LKG student died under mysterious circumstances at a private school in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, on Thursday, with his family alleging that a teacher assaulted him over incomplete homework.

The family said the boy became frightened, started crying and coughing, and later collapsed inside the classroom. They alleged that the child was taken to hospital after the incident but was already dead. The precise cause of death remains unknown, and the post-mortem report is awaited.

CCTV footage from the school has emerged as a key part of the police investigation. The footage reportedly shows the teacher scolding the child as he cries and moves his hands in an apparent plea. She is then seen adjusting his clothes before allegedly slapping him.

Seconds later, the boy collapses into the teacher’s lap. She appears to attempt to lift him, but the child remains unresponsive.

Police have registered a case and are questioning school staff and others who were present at the time. Investigators are also examining the CCTV footage and other evidence to determine whether the alleged assault was connected to the child’s death.

The boy’s family has demanded strict action against the teacher and the school management. His father alleged that the school did not inform him about the incident and that he learned about it from local cooks working near his brother-in-law’s residence.

The father also denied that his son had been unwell before going to school that morning. An initial inquiry has been initiated under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which governs police inquiries into deaths occurring under suspicious or unnatural circumstances.

Andhra Pradesh Human Resources Development Minister Nara Lokesh expressed condolences to the family and said legal action would be taken against those responsible, including the school management. The exact cause of the child’s death will be known after the post-mortem examination and completion of the police investigation.
