Tejashwi Yadav Challenges NDA on Bihar CM Face; BJP Labels Opposition ‘Thugbandhan’

Shortly after being named the Mahagathbandhan’s chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav dared the NDA to declare its CM face, asserting that the alliance lacks a clear vision or agenda. His challenge sparked sharp reactions from BJP leaders, who criticized his selection as “dynastic” and dismissed the INDIA bloc’s CM candidate claim as meaningless.

🔹 Tejashwi’s Statement

Speaking in Patna, Yadav said,
“We’ve never been confused about this. We’re clear on our CM face. But who will the NDA put forward? No joint press conference, no vision, no agenda, no Chief Minister announced. Amit Shah’s statement clearly shows Nitish Kumar is not going to be made Chief Minister.”

He added that his “only dream is to make Bihar number one” and emphasized that his party does not make broken or false promises.

🔹 BJP’s Response

Union Minister Giriraj Singh hit back, calling the alliance a “thugbandhan”, saying, “This is not a gathbandhan but a thugbandhan. Nitish Kumar is the NDA’s CM face.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi echoed the criticism, calling the opposition coalition a “lathbandhan” (coalition of criminals), pointing to leaders from Delhi and Bihar who are out on bail. Modi warned voters not to forget Bihar’s “jungle raj” and urged local youth to educate the electorate about the state’s past lawlessness.

BJP leader Keshav Prasad Maurya accused the Mahagathbandhan of trying to drag Bihar back to the dark era of Jungle Raj, calling Tejashwi’s announcements empty rhetoric. Senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad criticized Yadav’s job promise for 2.6 crore people, questioning the feasibility given Bihar’s budget.

BJP chief JP Nadda, addressing a rally in Aurangabad, framed the election as a contest between “vikaas” (development) and “vinaash” (destruction)”, claiming the RJD represents “Rangdari, Jungle Raj, and Dadagiri”, while Nitish Kumar had restored law and order.

Meanwhile, BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya dismissed Tejashwi’s CM projection as “mere tokenism” by Congress, suggesting he has been politically sidelined by Rahul Gandhi.

🔹 Election Schedule

The Bihar Assembly elections for 243 seats will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11, with results announced on November 14.
