Andhra TDP Minister’s Cousin Arrested for Slapping Policeman at Temple Event.
A cousin of Andhra Pradesh Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader BC Janardhan Reddy was arrested on Friday for allegedly slapping a police constable during a temple event in Nandyal district. The incident, caught on camera, quickly went viral on social media.
The altercation occurred on Thursday at the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple in Kolimigundla mandal during an inauguration ceremony. According to police, AR constable Jaswanth Kumar, who was posted for security duty, stopped Bobbala Madana Bhupal Reddy from entering a restricted area. In response, Bhupal Reddy allegedly hurled abuses and slapped the officer in front of others.
Following the incident, Kolimigundla police registered a case under IPC Sections 132, 121(1), 126(2), and 351(2), which pertain to assaulting and obstructing a public servant. Bhupal Reddy was arrested the next morning.
Minister Janardhan Reddy, who was present at the event, condemned the attack and said, “I strongly condemn the assault on the constable. I immediately directed police officials to file an FIR and take legal action. Such behaviour has no place in public life.”
