The Raja Saab Day 3 Box Office: Prabhas’ Horror-Comedy Hits ₹158 Crore, Beats Akhanda 2 Lifetime
Prabhas’ The Raja Saab continues to make waves at the box office despite a visible mid-week dip. The horror-comedy has crossed ₹150 crore worldwide in its opening weekend and is projected to touch ₹200 crore by Sankranti.
Day 3 Performance
The film had a strong opening on Friday, collecting ₹100 crore worldwide, though it faced a slump overseas on Saturday alongside a 51% drop in India. Sunday saw a further 20% decline domestically.
-
Domestic collections (India): ₹109 crore net (₹130 crore gross)
-
Overseas collections: Over $3 million, powered by a strong US debut
This brings the global three-day total to ₹158 crore gross.
Outperforming Akhanda 2
With this haul, The Raja Saab has already surpassed Balakrishna’s Akhanda 2, which earned ₹128 crore, as well as Mirai, which grossed around ₹150 crore. While Monday is expected to see a drop, analysts anticipate a rebound on Wednesday due to the Sankranti holiday.
Why the Film Matters
Directed by Maruthi, The Raja Saab marks Prabhas’ return to the family entertainer genre after over a decade, a shift from the action-heavy films post-Baahubali. Fans have dubbed this “vintage Prabhas,” appreciating the nostalgic vibe.
The film also features Sanjay Dutt, Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, Riddhi Kumar, Boman Irani, and Zarina Wahab. Despite mixed-to-negative critical reviews, the film’s star power and festive timing have helped it sustain momentum at the box office.
