Katrina Kaif recently faced criticism on social media following her appearance at the Ambani family’s Ganapati puja in Mumbai. Several users commented on her appearance and weight, despite the actor becoming a mother less than a year ago.
Salman Khan appeared to address the issue during a recent episode of Weekend Ka Vaar, where he criticised people for targeting celebrities over their looks, weight and personal lives. Although he did not name Katrina, many fans interpreted his comments as a response to the trolling she faced after pregnancy.
Fans Praise Salman Khan for Speaking Up
A video of Salman discussing online trolling quickly gained attention on social media, with fans applauding him for taking a stand. “Katrina Kaif’s guardian angel,” one fan wrote while sharing the clip. Another commented, “Salman Khan took revenge for Katrina Kaif’s postpartum trolling.”
Some fans also brought up Salman and Katrina’s characters from the YRF spy universe. “Tiger is back, speaking up for Zoya,” one user wrote. Other reactions included, “Bhaijaan defended Katrina Kaif” and “All this because they dared to disrespect Kat.”
Since Salman did not directly mention Katrina, some fans focused on the apparent reference to her post-pregnancy trolling. One user wrote, “He always protects her no matter what,” while another praised him for speaking out despite not being required to do so.
Salman Khan’s Message to Online Trolls
Salman’s remarks came while he was discussing a dispute involving Bigg Boss contestants ScoutOP and Arishfa Khan. Speaking about online abuse, he criticised those who target others for attention or financial gain.
“You are making money by putting someone down,” Salman said, adding that celebrities are frequently targeted over their bodies, weight, appearance, families, professional setbacks and personal milestones.
He said such behaviour ultimately reflects the upbringing of those making the comments.
While discussing criticism aimed at a woman after pregnancy, Salman pointed out that weight gain is normal during pregnancy. He said she could return to fitness when she decided to resume her film career and emphasised that she should have the freedom to spend time with her family.
The comments were widely interpreted by fans as a reference to Katrina’s recent experience with online trolling.
Katrina has also received support from other celebrities, including Khushbu Sundar and Sonarika Bhadoria, amid the social media criticism.
