Aleema Khan, sister of former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan, has accused the government of pursuing a “pre-planned political vendetta” against her family and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Her remarks come days after she ended a sit-in near Adiala Jail, where Imran Khan is being held.
Aleema claimed the authorities have already decided to arrest her. “They have decided to put me in jail without any judgment. There is no court order, no trial, no legal basis,” she said, according to intelligence sources. She alleged that state institutions are being misused to target Imran Khan’s family and cripple PTI.
Sources said Aleema believes her family is being denied due process amid wider efforts to contain public criticism over Imran Khan’s condition in custody. She also accused the government of financially pressuring her, calling it “economic strangulation,” alleging that her bank accounts were frozen without notice or judicial approval.
According to her, these actions are part of a broader crackdown intended to weaken PTI’s leadership and prevent the Khans from mobilising political support. She claimed the timing of her potential arrest aligns with growing protests in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab.
The allegations surface at a time of rising public concern about Imran Khan’s treatment inside Adiala Jail. Intelligence inputs suggest the government is reacting to “rising anger” over claims of isolation and mistreatment, including blocked access for family members.
Aleema’s recent sit-in at the Gorakhpur checkpost outside Adiala Jail drew significant attention after it caused heavy traffic disruptions, trapping commuters, ambulances, and school vehicles. The protest was lifted following negotiations in which police assured her that family meetings with Imran Khan would be allowed.
