Three Suspected Terrorists Trigger Massive Security Operation in J&K’s Udhampur
A high-alert security operation is underway in Basantgarh, Udhampur district, after three suspected terrorists knocked on the door of a Bakerwal family late Friday night, asking for food. The house owner fled and immediately informed authorities, prompting a multi-agency response.
The Army, J&K Police, and CRPF launched an extensive cordon-and-search operation across the remote upper reaches and dense forests of Chingla-Balotha village. Officials said that the suspects’ movements were reported in the forest belt, but no contact has been made so far.
High-Risk Infiltration Zone
Basantgarh is part of a well-known infiltration corridor, frequently used by terrorists crossing the International Border in the Kathua sector. From there, they move through rugged terrain toward Doda and Kishtwar before attempting to enter the Kashmir Valley. The region has seen multiple encounters, hideout busts, and terror-related incidents in recent years.
Forces Sweep Forests and Villages
Security personnel are searching nearby hamlets and forest patches using sniffer dogs, UAVs, and specialized tracking teams. Villagers have been advised to stay indoors and report any unusual activity immediately.
Officials said the operation will continue until the suspects are traced or the area is fully sanitized, and authorities remain on high alert for potential sightings or movements in the dense forest.
