Venezuela Issues Global Warning After US Captures Maduro.
Venezuela has strongly condemned the capture of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, by US forces. Defence Minister Vladimir Padrino López called the operation “a serious threat to the global order,” warning citizens to stay calm and continue daily activities amid foreign intervention threats.
“If today it was against Venezuela, tomorrow it could be against any country,” he said, describing the US action as “imperialist” and demanding the immediate release of Maduro and Flores. He also assured that Venezuela’s military remains united to protect stability and order.
Meanwhile, interim President Delcy Rodríguez, Maduro’s former vice president, urged a “balanced and respectful” relationship with the US, proposing cooperation on a shared development agenda.
US President Donald Trump warned Rodríguez she could face a “bigger price” than Maduro if she does not cooperate and hinted at a potential second strike, stressing the need for full access to Venezuelan oil and resources.
The capture marks the most assertive US move toward regime change in Venezuela since the 2003 Iraq invasion, raising tensions across the region.
