Trump Issues Ultimatum to Hamas, Calls for Peace Deal by Sunday.

US President Donald Trump on Friday issued a stern ultimatum to Hamas, demanding the group reach a peace agreement with Israel by Sunday, 6 pm, warning that failure to do so would trigger unprecedented retaliation. “We will have PEACE in the Middle East one way or the other,” Trump said, emphasizing that all hostages must be released and hostilities brought to an immediate halt.

Trump outlined a 20-point peace plan aimed at ending the two-year-long Gaza war and establishing a framework for postwar governance in the territory. The plan calls for a temporary governing board, chaired by Trump and including figures such as former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, to oversee reconstruction, coordinate humanitarian aid, and ensure Hamas relinquishes both military and administrative control.

Under the proposal, an immediate ceasefire would be enforced if both sides agree. Israel would begin withdrawing forces as Hamas releases all captives within 72 hours, while Israel would also release Palestinian prisoners held since October 7, 2023. The plan further includes a phased Israeli withdrawal, deployment of an International Stabilisation Force, and an economic development strategy to transform Gaza into a “terror-free zone.”

Trump’s warning followed the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel, which he called a “massacre.” He described Hamas as a longstanding “ruthless” threat in the region and highlighted that more than 25,000 Hamas fighters have already been killed in retribution. He also urged innocent Palestinians in Gaza to move to safer areas, noting that many remain in danger if conflict resumes.

A source close to Hamas said the group is reviewing the proposal. While some elements echo prior ceasefire initiatives, Hamas has historically resisted disarmament, leaving the plan’s acceptance uncertain.

Trump concluded, “This deal also spares the lives of all remaining Hamas fighters! The details are known to the world, and it is a great one for all.” The White House has left open the question of whether the Sunday deadline will be strictly enforced.
