“Trump Responds to Elon Musk: ‘Could Be Forced to Close Up and Leave'”

Trump vs Musk: Tax Feud Escalates Over EV Subsidies and $4 Trillion Bill.

The ongoing political and personal rift between U.S. President Donald Trump and billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk escalated further on Monday, as the President accused Musk of benefiting from record-breaking government subsidies and suggested that, without them, Musk would be forced to “close shop and return to South Africa.”

“Elon may get more subsidy than any human being in history, by far. Without subsidies, Elon would probably have to shut down and head home,” Trump posted on Truth Social, his social media platform.

Trump’s remarks came after Musk harshly criticized the administration’s new $4 trillion tax and spending bill — dubbed the “Big, Beautiful Bill” — which would eliminate the $7,500 federal tax credit for electric vehicles (EVs), a move that could significantly impact Tesla.

DOGE, EVs & Political Threats
Trump took a jab at Tesla’s internal cost-cutting team, humorously suggesting that DOGE (a Tesla term for cost efficiency) should investigate Musk’s own subsidies and contracts.

“No more rocket launches, satellites, or electric cars, and we’d save a fortune,” Trump wrote. “Perhaps we should have DOGE take a good, hard look at this? Big money to be saved!”

At the heart of the dispute is the Biden-era EV mandate, which Trump opposes and has made a campaign issue. Trump reiterated his stance, saying:

“Electric cars are fine, but not everyone should be forced to own one. Elon knew long ago that I opposed the EV mandate, even before he endorsed me.”

Musk Fires Back: ‘Debt Slavery Bill’
In response, Musk doubled down on his opposition to the bill, warning it would push the U.S. toward economic collapse. He referred to it as the “debt slavery bill”, claiming it would increase the national debt by more than $3 trillion.

“We’re looking at a five-trillion-dollar debt ceiling increase — it’s madness,” Musk posted on X. “We live in a one-party state. The Porky Pig Party! It’s time for a political party that actually cares about people.”

Musk even floated the idea of launching a new political outfit called the “America Party” if the legislation passes, marking a dramatic shift in his political positioning.

White House Fires Back
Meanwhile, Vice President JD Vance defended the bill and responded to critics — with an indirect swipe at Musk. He argued that the real threat to U.S. economic stability came from illegal immigration, not domestic spending.

“What bankrupts nations isn’t investing in Americans,” Vance said, “it’s failing to secure our borders.”

As the standoff between Trump’s populist conservatism and Musk’s techno-libertarianism intensifies, the debate over debt, subsidies, and the future of electric vehicles is turning into a central issue in the 2025 campaign — with high stakes for both the economy and the political landscape.
