Vijay Pens Heartfelt Letter to Karur Stampede Victims’ Families, Confirms Rs 20 Lakh Aid.

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief and actor-turned-politician Vijay on Saturday wrote a touching letter to families affected by last month’s Karur stampede, expressing deep condolences and solidarity. “We share the grief of losing our family members in the tragic incident in Karur. We assure you that we will support you in every possible way,” Vijay wrote, reaffirming the party’s commitment to the victims.

He also confirmed plans to meet the families in person once legal permission is secured. “Once permission is received, we will definitely meet,” he added. The letter officially confirmed that Rs 20 lakh has been transferred to the next of kin of each victim, following an earlier announcement on September 28. “We request you to accept it as our helping hand. With God’s grace, we will overcome this difficult time,” Vijay wrote.

Earlier today, TVK shared on social media that Rs 20 lakh each has been credited to the families of 39 victims, totaling Rs 7.8 crore. The party has also committed to long-term support, assisting victims’ families with education and employment.

Karur Stampede Recap
The stampede occurred during a TVK rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu, where tens of thousands of supporters had gathered, far exceeding the 10,000-person limit set by police. Vijay’s six-hour delay added to the crowd’s restlessness. As the rally began, supporters surged toward the stage, breaching barricades and triggering the stampede.

Numerous people were hospitalized, some in critical condition. The Rs 20 lakh compensation for each family of the deceased was announced by Vijay soon after the tragedy, and today’s letter underscores his commitment to providing ongoing relief and support.
