India Snubs Mohsin Naqvi as PCB Chief Celebrates Pakistan’s U19 Asia Cup Victory

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chief Mohsin Naqvi was noticeably snubbed by India following the U19 Asia Cup final on Sunday, December 21. Naqvi presented the trophy to Pakistan after their convincing win over India and posed with the victorious team and support staff for celebratory photographs.

Pakistan dominated the final, posting 347 runs in their first innings, highlighted by Sameer Minhas’ 172. India initially looked promising thanks to Vaibhav Suryvanshi, but the chase quickly collapsed. Under the pressure of the final, Indian batters faltered, with Suryvanshi unable to make a significant impact. India were eventually bowled out for 156, giving Pakistan a 191-run victory and the U19 Asia Cup title.

Naqvi had arrived in Dubai while the final was underway and joined dignitaries for the presentation. However, the Indian players chose not to share the stage with him, opting instead to collect their medals from another official away from where the PCB chief was standing.

Meanwhile, Naqvi presented the winners’ medals to the Pakistan players and handed the trophy to captain Farhan Yousaf. He was then pictured celebrating with the team and management, capturing the moment with photos and joining Pakistan’s victory lap on the field.

Naqvi has been at the centre of attention in continental tournaments, especially after the controversy in the senior men’s Asia Cup final between India and Pakistan, where Indian players had refused to accept the trophy from him. Despite past tensions, he presented both the Rising Stars Asia Cup and U19 Asia Cup crowns to Pakistan.

The rivalry for Asia Cup supremacy continues, but Pakistan’s celebrations were unmistakably highlighted by Naqvi’s presence and involvement.
