Telangana techie shot dead by US police, family seeks help to bring body home.
Mohammed Nizamuddin, a 29-year-old software professional from Mahabubnagar, Telangana, was shot dead by Santa Clara police in California on September 3 after an alleged dispute with his roommate. His father, Mohammed Hasnuddin, learned of the incident through a friend and described the clash as over a minor issue.
Hasnuddin has appealed to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar for urgent help to bring his son’s body back to India. The family’s request has also been shared by Majlis Bachao Tahreek (MBT) spokesperson Amjed Ullah Khan.
Santa Clara Police said officers responded to a stabbing incident at a residence on Eisenhower Drive around 6:18 am. Nizamuddin allegedly threatened his roommate with a knife when police arrived. He was hospitalized but later pronounced dead. Two knives were recovered at the scene. Police Chief Cory Morgan said the officers’ actions “prevented further harm and clearly saved at least one life.”
Nizamuddin had completed his MS in the US and was working there as a software professional before his tragic death.
