“US May Skip G20, Trump Calls Treatment of White Farmers ‘Disgraceful’”

Trump Says US Will Boycott G20 Summit Over ‘Disgraceful’ Treatment of White Farmers in South Africa.

President Donald Trump on Friday announced that no US officials will attend the G20 summit in South Africa later this month, citing what he called the “disgraceful” treatment of white farmers in the country. Trump had already said he would skip the November 22–23 meeting, and Vice President JD Vance had been expected to represent the US. Sources confirmed that Vance will no longer travel to the summit.

On social media, Trump wrote: “Afrikaners—people descended from Dutch, French, and German settlers—are being killed, and their land and farms are being illegally confiscated. No US Government Official will attend as long as these human rights abuses continue. I look forward to hosting the 2026 G20 in Miami, Florida!”

The Trump administration has repeatedly criticised South Africa, alleging discrimination and violence against minority white farmers. Earlier this year, the US also prioritised white South Africans in its reduced refugee intake of 7,500.

South African officials have rejected these claims. President Cyril Ramaphosa called reports of systematic persecution “completely false,” noting that white citizens still enjoy higher living standards than most Black South Africans decades after apartheid.

Trump has continued to press his criticism, recently suggesting South Africa be removed from the G20. This echoes a similar US protest in February, when Secretary of State Marco Rubio boycotted a G20 foreign ministers’ meeting over an agenda focused on diversity, inclusion, and climate change.
