S State Department: Ties with India and Pakistan Remain Unchanged After Asim Munir’s Visit.

The United States’ relationship with both India and Pakistan remains steady, the State Department affirmed on Wednesday, underscoring ongoing diplomatic commitments to both nations. State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce made the remarks during a media briefing, responding to questions about Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir’s recent visit to the US and his nuclear threats against India.

“Our relationship with India and Pakistan remains unchanged,” Bruce said. “US diplomats continue to engage with both countries in a committed and constructive manner.” Reflecting on past tensions, she noted the crucial role played by US leadership in defusing potential conflict. “During a recent crisis, Vice President JD Vance, President Donald Trump, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio quickly intervened to prevent escalation through diplomatic efforts.”

Bruce described how phone calls and negotiations helped avert attacks, bringing both sides together to foster a lasting dialogue. “It’s a proud moment for our nation that these leaders helped stop a possible catastrophe,” she added. The spokesperson also highlighted the latest round of US-Pakistan counter-terrorism talks held in Islamabad on Tuesday. “The United States and Pakistan reaffirmed their shared commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms,” Bruce said.

She emphasized ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation against terrorist threats, noting the importance of US engagement with both countries for regional stability and global security. Regarding Asim Munir’s anti-India rhetoric, former Pentagon analyst Michael Rubin condemned Pakistan’s stance as “completely unacceptable,” drawing parallels between Munir’s statements and those of extremist groups like ISIS.

Rubin questioned Pakistan’s role as a responsible state and urged swift diplomatic consequences, including revoking Pakistan’s major non-NATO ally status and designating it a state sponsor of terrorism. He also recommended declaring General Munir persona non grata and banning him from entering the US.
