Vance: Trump in strong health, but I’m prepared to step in if required

US Vice President JD Vance has sought to reassure the public about President Donald Trump’s health, saying he is in “incredibly good shape” and full of energy, while also admitting that he is ready to step up if an emergency arises.

Vance described Trump as a tireless leader who “works late at night and early in the morning,” adding: “I feel very confident the president is going to serve out the remainder of his term and deliver great things for the American people.”

At the same time, he acknowledged that being vice president comes with the responsibility of being prepared for the unexpected. Asked if he could take over as commander-in-chief if tragedy struck, Vance said:

“I can’t think of better on-the-job training than what I’ve gotten over the last 200 days. If something terrible happens, I’m ready.”

The conversation ranged beyond the president’s health. Vance defended his much-publicized exchange with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, gave his take on the media buzz around the Taylor Swift–Travis Kelce engagement, and commented on Trump’s controversial effort to remove a Federal Reserve governor.

Even so, the subject of Trump’s condition brought out Vance’s strongest remarks. Repeating that the president is in “incredibly good health” with “incredible energy,” he underlined his confidence that Trump remains fit to complete his term.
