Veteran actor Dharmendra admitted to ICU after complaining of breathlessness; actual cause of hospitalisation revealed
Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra, 89, was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai after complaining of breathlessness on Friday night.
The news initially sparked concern among fans, but hospital officials have confirmed that the actor is stable and recovering well. According to journalist Vickey Lalwani, a hospital source said, “Dharmendra came in complaining of breathlessness. He is in the ICU and sleeping now. His parameters are stable — heart rate 70, blood pressure 140/80, and urine output is good. There is nothing to worry about.”
Earlier reports had created confusion about the actor’s condition, with one source telling India Today that Dharmendra had simply come in for routine medical tests, while another report by NDTV claimed he had been hospitalised for several days.
Dharmendra, who turns 90 on December 8, has faced health challenges in recent years. Earlier this year, he underwent eye graft surgery, after which he assured fans of his good health, saying, “Abhi bhi Dharmendra mein bahut dum hai (There’s still strength in me).”
The veteran star will soon be seen in Sriram Raghavan’s upcoming war biopic “Ikkis”, co-starring Agastya Nanda and Jaideep Ahlawat. The film, based on the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, a Param Vir Chakra awardee from the 1971 Indo-Pak war, is set to release later this year.
