Agnihotri Alleges ‘Top Authorities’ Behind Disruption of The Bengal Files Trailer Launch.
Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri alleged that “top authorities” in West Bengal were behind the disruption of the trailer launch of his upcoming film The Bengal Files in Kolkata on August 16.
The event at ITC Royal Bengal was stopped midway when the visuals on a large LED screen were cut off. Agnihotri claimed it was “already planned,” arguing that no programme of such scale, with over 150 attendees and media present, could be halted without official intervention.
He also said two multiplexes had earlier cancelled their bookings for the launch under political pressure. “They told me they wouldn’t survive politically if they showed the trailer,” he told ANI.
Agnihotri maintained that he was informed certain parts of the trailer had drawn objections from authorities. On whether the film would release in Bengal, he said he hoped the government would not deny people their rights but vowed to fight legally if necessary.
